Troubleshooting

Account linking or synchronization does not complete

Diagnose expired device codes, missing tournament data, queued offline changes, private pages and synchronization conflicts.

Verified with Desktop 0.45.0 ·

The device code is rejected

Start a new linking attempt in the app and use only the most recent code. Device codes expire and are single-use. Confirm that the authorization page uses HTTPS and belongs to ChessPairings.org before entering account credentials.

The browser says connected but the app does not change

Return to Synchronization and wait for the polling step to finish. If it times out, use the refresh action once. Check the system clock and Internet connection, then restart linking with a new code rather than reusing the old one.

A downloaded tournament has IDs but no names

Refresh the tournament after synchronization and verify that the complete snapshot was received. Player names belong to the tournament snapshot; they should not depend on matching the current FIDE archive. Keep the downloaded copy and report the tournament and synchronization time if names remain empty.

Local results are not visible online

Confirm that the account is linked, the tournament is linked to its online counterpart and the queue has no pending error or conflict. Synchronize again. A private tournament can update online account data while still having no public results page.

There is a conflict

Create a local backup before choosing a side. Compare last update time, current round, player count and several recent results. Select the authoritative copy only after this comparison; replacing one side is not a merge of arbitrary field changes.

The computer is offline

Continue working locally. Changes remain queued and can be sent when connectivity returns. Do not create a second unrelated online copy merely because the first upload is delayed.
